Changing the brake rotars on a Ford F 150?

Is this hard to do on your own? Only one needs to be replaced the rest were already done by the previous owner. I just need to get the one replaced and I was wondering if it was easy to do myself or if i were to take it somewhere to get it replaced how much do you think it would cost?Changing the brake rotars on a Ford F 150?change it yourself and save money. It is like changing a tire. Do it yourself or pay someone else $10 to do it. Here is the URL for your vehicle:http://www.autozone.com/az/cds/en_us/090

you can back up to get the year and model for your Ford. Anyway, changing the front rotor is not that difficult anyway. Besides to ask this question you will definitely benefit from the experience.Changing the brake rotars on a Ford F 150?You should always change both sides...say its the front drivers side that needs to be changed, change both the fronts. That ensures your brakes are wearing evenly, and you don't pull while braking. It is a pretty simple job, but it needs to be done right. I would advise getting a chiltons or haynes manual for your vehicle and reading over it in detail before trying yourself. Taking it to a brake shop will run you around 200 or so. Doing it yourself will cost you about 100 to 120 (30-40 for each rotor, 20-30 for a set of pads that includes both sides.) Simply taking the tire off, removing the caliper, (sometimes there is a screw on the rotor that holds it in place, I have only seen it on one or two vehicles though) and the rotor can be pulled off. Sometimes you need to tap it though, to remove any rust that is holding it on. Put on new rotor, spray some brake cleaner on it, put on the caliper with new pads (there is a trick before you take off the caliper, put a screwdriver in between the pads and the rotor, and force the piston open...that stops you from having to get a clamp to open it after you take it off. Be sure to remove the cap from your brake fluid reservoir beforehand....all that stops you from having to bleed your brakes) tighten everything up, put the wheel back on, start your truck, and pump the brakes til they feel tight....Then do proper brake break in, and you are good.Changing the brake rotars on a Ford F 150?if you can get the rotor off u can do itChanging the brake rotars on a Ford F 150?interesting question because they make the 150 in 2 and 4 wheel drive. If it 2 or 4, it is not a rotor less hub. that makes it about as hard as changing back brake shoes

EASYChanging the brake rotars on a Ford F 150?It is hard to instruct you how to replace the rotor yourself. You don't give the year, or whether it is 2wd or 4wd. Most of the newer Fords are hubless rotors that slide over the hub. If it is that type, you are going to need some WD40 and a really big hammer. Don't hit the studs, but spray around the center hub and let it soak for a while, then take your really big sledge hammer and knock the rotor off from the inside. Those rotors are nearly a perfect fit over the hubs, and the slightest bit of rust will have you begging for mercy. If it is older, it isn't that hard either, but you may have to pull the bearings out and slide the rotor off the spindle.
