I moved 900 miles for a job and then, after six months, they put me in a different position. I don't mean an office position moving to a different department or something like that. I work in a factory position where I perform robotic programming and machine setups. They changed my job to %26quot;Maintenance Supervisor%26quot;! I'm Maintenance Supervisor and the best part is that I have no people! No, the BEST part is that I have ZERO maintenance experience and knowledge!!!
I'm not an electrician, welder, toolmaker, equipment fabricator, plumber, or even a mechanic. I don't know the methods and don't have the skills of a maintenance technician or supervisor. I don't know anything about where to buy the stuff needed... I'm supposed to plan a tool crib and have everything ordered in two weeks!
I've changed the oil in my car several times and I've replaced brake pads once or twice. That's it.
This company moves people around like they are drawing names out of a hat. Everyone else that is getting moved is a office person, supervisor, engineer of some sort. They all have offices, go to daily meetings, etc. They are management, I'm not. I'm the only one that works 8+ hours a day on the factory floor. I inquired about this change and got %26quot;written up%26quot; for a whole list of things that I hadn't done in maintenance -- things that didn't get done BEFORE they put me in this position.
