There's a couple of great things in life and among that list will always be your first great love. That person who came and shook your core, that person who changed your view on the opposite sex and life forever, that person who you swore you would die without. My first love opened my eyes to so many things and to this day i haven't quite met anyone like him, and no he wasn't the one who took my virginity so I can't say that's the reason why he stands out so much. I had loved this guy so much that i couldn't' breath when i was near him and i swore on everything holy that i was going to marry this boy as soon as i had turned 18. When things went south for us i was devastated and realized he never loved me as much as I loved him (which is ok because that's how things are in relationships, someone will always love the other person more). It's been 5 years since we have broken up and he crushed my heart and I can't say i have ever really forgiven him even tho we have remained friends. We talk sporadically, always checking in with each other here and there, but when he told me he was heart broken over his ex who he felt was like the love of his life my heart dropped a bit. I couldn't understand why I felt so hurt... maybe it was because he hadn't given me the acknowledgment I wanted, maybe because till this day I wanted to be the love of his life. Is my ego hurt or does heart brake really take this long? I guess he's the one guy I just never got over, but none the less I will always want to be his friend, I just dont know how to get over the hurt. I wish I were as special to him as he was to me. Do you ever get over your first love?

It's just one of those things that's like a milestone in life. Like getting your period for the first time, if i'm not being too blunt. Sure you may fall in love again, but there's still always going to be just a tiny memory of that first person, unless you somehow find your soulmate somewhere.
